I stayed here with two friends after checking out six other neighbouring guest houses. At the end of a little lane off Monkey Forest road, a large selection of bungalows and a guest house nestle into the sides of a terraced tropical garden. Accessed via a bridge over a burbing brook, the accommodation is quiet and cool, despite being 2 mins walk from the centre of Ubud.
Each bungalow is quite private, with it's own large terrace, table and chairs for whiling away the hours in the shade of the sun. We chose a semi-detached bungalow with a very large, clean bedroom and bathroom. The minimalist rooms were cleaned and beds were made up every day - we were even given a pot of tea, cups and saucers every morning, left out on our terrace table for an early morning cuppa!
Walk up the stone steps to the top of the valley (only takes about 2 mins, but is quite steep) and across the small rice paddy field and you find a reasonably large pool, with Buddha fountain, shallow area for children and sun loungers around it. We spent quite a lot time there, sunning and swimming until dusk!

The restaurant is beyond the pool and a yummy breakfast is included in the room price - with good selection from fruit, eggs, toast, jam, pancakes, jaffles and nasi goreng - all you need for a good day's shopping in the local boutiques and jewellers! The restaurant was good for good value lunches, though didn't quite make the grade for dinner (Ubud has too many excellent restaurants to discover). You can asked to be served any meals and drinks by the pool - breakfast under the pagoda was one of my favourites!

The staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. We asked for another chair for the terrace and one was fetched straight away; towels are willingly handed over for the pool and the service in the restaurant was exceptionally polite in a gentle way (though slow, but that's Indonesia for you!) - we were even given basic Indonesian language lessons by the waitress!

All in all, it's romantic, beautiful and relaxing and I highly recommend it for friends, famillies, couples and groups, as it caters for all. However, due to the steps the bungalows may not be suitable for people who have difficulty in walking, although the guest house at the top of the valley is more accessible.
